CBMap
is a two-part GIS database that assembles and displays information
related to mineral exploration in Central America and the Caribbean
Basin.
1) The
Prospect Database locates and describes over 1000 base and
precious metal mines and prospects.
2) The
Land Status Database locates and describes over 2000
mineral concessions, national parks, forest reserves, reservations, and other areas of restricted mineral entry.
CBMap can be used in a variety of ways. For example, the
Prospect Database can be used to review information on individual properties,
track and record property transactions, and answer specific queries, for
example: "Locate and identify all deposits with over 500,000 ounces
gold." The Land Status Database can be used to locate and assemble
information on individual concessions, identify concessions that are due
to expire, and answer specific queries such as: "Locate and
identify all concessions held by Minera Occidente, S.A."
The data from both the Prospect and the Land
Status Databases can be overlain on a series of detailed base maps
including Geology, Geography, and Shaded Relief.
CBMap is offered by
Recursos del Caribe, S.A., a Colorado based consulting firm headed
by Carl Nelson that specializes
in mineral exploration and development around the Caribbean Basin.
Additional
Products include regional stream sediment survey
databases and a summary of the regulatory environment affecting mineral
